Beatrice Victorian carved five stone diamond ring
Beatrice is a genuine Victorian beauty – a classic five-stone diamond engagement ring with lots of authentic details. Firstly, there are the five old brilliant cut diamonds, perfectly matched to the next, which have been graded as G/H colour and look brilliantly white to the naked eye. A precursor to the modern-day round brilliant, the old brilliant cut was first popularised in the Victorian era. Designed to showcase the colour of a diamond rather than optimise its sparkle, it is what gives these five diamonds their antique charm. Then there is the swirling 18-carat yellow gold setting, carved by hand, which is a classic Victorian design detail. Clearly visible when we acquired the ring but not defined enough, we asked our craftsman to restore it to its former glory. Within the platinum setting on the top, you will find the finishing touch: seven tiny rose-cut diamond points, which add extra sparkle to the old cut diamonds.
